Pro Bono

I have dabbed into volunteer work throughout my life, but recently I have had more requests than usual from a couple different non-profits.

My first volunteering job was in 7th grade when I joined "Friends Helping Friends," I don't know if any of you have heard of this, honestly I don't even know if they still do it anymore. Regardless, my job was to mentor a child picked by the school and spend one hour a week with them doing whatever I wanted. I wore a purple shirt with a yellow logo and me and my "Friend" would have some recreational fun which usually included doge-ball.

Now that I have a degree and a bit of experience under my belt, my knowledge seems to bring in some requests. But I am more than happy to be a part of something good.

I have to admit although I love my job sometimes I feel as though I am not helping the world or making it better, I am simply putting together catalogs to sell clothing. But working on the side for those who do make a difference gives more meaning to my career path. I feel much more balanced and fulfilled. So, if anyone has any great non-profits that might need some graphic design expertise... have them shoot me an e-mail and I would love to see if I can help them out. (schultz.hailey@gmail.com)

WOMEN'S POWER SUIT
I think I nailed it on the head, the business look for young professionals. It's not that complicated but everything has a purpose.

The Red blouse: Red is a color people remember; button-ups give you a more professional look
Pencil Skirt: Pants are ok, but a pencil skirt is only something women can pull off; they are professional and show off your amazing curves
Heels: they make you taller; they make your legs look amazing
Jewelry: add some sparkle; sophisticated addition; watches can be beneficial that way you don't have to bring your cell phone to meeting.

Whether you are attending a meeting, have a presentation, or job interview this is a great starting point for your outfit. It shows your a woman, a professional, in-charge but not intimidating, just the right balance. Remember, clear nail polish is preferred, hair shouldn't get too wild, and depending on your crowd fun accessories/ substitutions can make you stand out even more.

If $200 seeems like a lot upfront then buy it one piece at a time or shop around.

Alternatives: Express also has well priced blouses for around $50 each; TJ Maxx has great deals on jewelry; H&M has black pencil skirts, however for my body shape they always seem to tight for work; Target and Forever 21 have heals for $20
